Write a 5-page paper on 1 particular challenge that YOU believe ought to be the priority of the US over the next decade. In chapters 4-9, we have examined security, prosperity, and identity issues and challenges. Pick one of these issue areas, and discuss why and how the US should focus its attention on one particular aspect of this issue area, so as to foster conditions for a better world. For example, if you believe that the mission of the US should be to increase global prosperity, then pick 1 issues (say, sovereign debt), and describe how the US, 1 IGO, and 1 NGO are trying to address this problem. Rather, you will begin by stating your thesis, such as, “I believe the US should focus its attention and resources on eliminating sovereign debt because….” You then will discuss briefly why eliminating sovereign debt will not only make the world a better place, but especially how eliminating sovereign debt will benefit the US (about 1 & ½ to 2 pages)! You then will describe what the US currently is doing (or not) to eliminate sovereign debt across the globe (about 1 page). Next, you will describe how 1 IGO is addressing sovereign debt (about 1 page), and how 1 NGO is addressing sovereign debt (about 1 page). Your last page should conclude with a discussion on what further steps you believe are necessary to fix this problem to the satisfaction of the US.
