have differed on many ideas. Philosopher
John Locke and Thomas Hobbes are no exception to that constant. One of the more prevalent and controversial topics
of debate is how much authority should be given to the state or government. Locke believed that all people were endowed
with human rights. Hobbes, however,
believed that human rights came from the state and that people couldn’t have a
functioning society without government.
